Why No Tint On Most 911s?

In pictures Ive seen of used 911s, not one has tint on the rear window. Why is that? I plan to tint mine to keep the rear seats and passengers cooler. Plus it'll cut down on sun-weathering to the leather back there.

Is there a problem with tinting the rear window? Heater wires?

The window can be tinted in one piece.

Mine has been tinted for over ten years. Lumar film, one piece. Still looks very good.
Tinting has gotten expensive, just paid $250 to have the wife's Merc wagon done last weekend.

Tinting a 911 is a lot more difficult than most tinters admit, but a 911 has been around for a while and owners tend to not let tinters work on the cars.

Good tinters will be able to do it right with the best product. All tint goes bad in certain heat conditions, and upon removal can damage your rear window defroster. Are you experienced, have you ever heat shrunk a one piece of tint on the exterior of a rear glass, then applied it to the inside all without any dust residue under the film? That is what the tinter has to be able to do to the rear, The side require trimming that is indescribably difficult. Have you practiced on a couple other cars. Does it make sense to to potentially compromise the rear defrosters for resale.
