Recommendations for lightweight shop welder?

Hello All:

Any recommendations for a light weight home shop TIG/MIG welder?

Would be used for mostly body work type applications and constructing jigs, fixtures etc. Ideally, I'd run it off standard 120VAC 20A service.

Thanks, Bill

I have been using a Lincoln MIG PAC 10 for years and it handles almost anything I can throw at it.
If I was going to buy a new one I would go for the MIG PAC 15 which is a 220 V 20 amp unit the other is only 110V 15 amp but I have welded 1/4 and 5/16 inch plate with it.

I spent alot of time researching my welder and I talked to quite a few Pro Welders one of them Being Ben @MK Exhaust. I wound up purchasing a Hobart Handler 140 Wire Fed and purchased a seperate tank, Total was around 500$ or so. I love it and I have close to 100 hours on it with no issues and it has never skipped a beat. Awesome equiptment!!

There are several reasonably priced 110v wire feed welders available. If it is something that is going to be used a lot, I would go with one of the higher end brand named models, Miller, Hobart, etc. If it is just going to be used every now and then, you could do well with one of the lower end brands. A 110v wire feed unit should be fine for just about all aspects for the 911 needs, just be sure NOT to buy a flux-core only type of wire feed welder, make sure it is a true MIG welder, complete with the shielding gas regulator set-up. Good luck!! Tony.
