Original Paint, single stage or clearcoat question

I searched,But I want to make certain that OEM original paint that was a standard color,Say black, guards red,GP white, etc are single stage painted from the factory? Also that an OEM color from the factory thats stated as special metallic, say diamond blue, silver, platinum, etc are two part paint base-clear?This question would pertain to 84-89 carrera's.Thanks for any insight.

You are correct. Solid colors are single stage, metallics are clear-coated.
They started clear-coating solid colors on the 993's and newer models.
