paint code

Can I get some input from the group here.. I have a 85 Targa which the code on the hood only says L999 YZ. I assume 999 is customer option on paint, I was told it was CHampagne by the 2nd owner and original paint. How do I confirm this, and how do I get the actual code so I can repaint the same. Interior is Burgandy, although it doesn't say this anywhere either. Thanks for your help.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1237838521.jpg

i need the vin # and production date to get you the real color code .

as you know the code 999 only tells you that its a special order color . i will have to email a frend at porsche N.A. he will send it to porsche HQ.G. and then he will send it back to me . it will take about 4 to 5 days . then if you want the paint mix formula i can send the paint code off to another frend at glasurit ( the OE paint co. for porsche ) and get you the mix (tints used and how much of each tint needed ) . as i have stated in the past on other peoples posts the color name is meaningless only the color # has a value .

the color info you wanted is . color name WHITE GOLD MET. color # 539 .only for the years of 1985 & 1986 . 239 porsche's were painted that color for the 2 years it was offerd .

i could not find the color on my computer becouse the name you gave was sepia 77 . i need the full name and or color number to find colors . this is what i found under the name Sepiabraun . color # 054 for 1972 to 1973 then color # 074 1972 -1973 , #415 for 72-73 , #5410 for 1954 to 1973 , #6836 1967 to 73 , # 7410 70-72 , #7474 70-72 . the two that are most popular that come up for the 911 are # 074 and 6836 . then the one that comes up most popular for the USA is #074 . this is for the year of 1972 on a 911 body with a 6 cylinder motor .
