Popularity of Colors in 1979
I have a 79 SC and its original color was Metallic Black (code 708-9-3).
I was curious if there are any available statistics that would indicate how many cars were painted this color, I know it was only used from 1979-1981? I think Christopherous would publish this information periodically and maybe someone has this information. Also, does anyone have the original color code chart for the 1979 model year that they could scan and put in a reply here? I am the second owner of this car and while it's on it's third paint job, at least it's metallic black still, though not the same as the original, I think the next time I will return it to the original. One last question regarding the original paint, I found that the 3 indicates paint by Herbert, which became Dupont later. It would seem that quite often people are under a misconception that the only paint used was by Glasurit, I know I thought so. Anyway, to be true to the original paint, does Dupont make this particular color any longer? :D Thanks for your replies! Here's a picture of how it looks today, it's the nearest to the camera! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1250423461.jpg |
By Metalic do you mean it has a clear coat on top?
