Panel Dumb Dumb & Panel Clips
Does anyone know what (chemical??) to use to remove the remaining dumb dumb from the joining surfaces when I removed the front fenders off a 83' 911 ?? I have scraped and scraped and the d dumb just keeps rolling along... I don't want to scratch the paint underneath if possible which will add more painting and such to repair.
Also, it appears that this was the first time these front fenders were removed and the slide on clips that allow the fender to be bolted to the body had clips on BOTH the fender AND the body of the car!! Is this correct or possibly an "SC" era thing?? I have removed fenders off of long hood cars and the clips were only on the fender... (maybe a spacing trick to help set up the gap of fender to hood??) Thanks! Bob |
use pre body work cleaner like RM's #900 it works good . its not a prepaint cleaner like there 901 cleaner . RM paint is the sister CO. of glasurit .

962... thx for your reply.
Can you tell me what RM#900 product is or a similar product?? I do not understand this nomenclature. In the interum I have been using Acetone... it is working with some elbow grease. Am I doing any harm to the remaining~adjoining painted areas with the Acetone?? Thx, Bob I figured out the clip issue...ONLY on the sm wing in front of the doors that is welded to the body, is where the clips go on BOTH the fender & this sm wing... interesting as this is not the case on long hood cars from what I recall... |
