That was one of the best longest running engines Porsche ever produced. Are you staying with the 911 bumpers or have you considered making a 964 turbo look with the updated painted bumpers?
It seems to me when you part out your existing car you will be years ahead financially and mentally. Keep the pictures coming we all love a great project. Whew! you had me scared for a little while. Jim

Jim, I may be Crazy but not Stupid! That is why I came to THIS board for a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I knew I had to get no newer than 1983 and found a nice car. A 1982 that "NOW" Has 104K miles after the drive home from where I picked it up. Paid $11.5K and until the ride home he never left for a ride when it was raining.

It does have the Oil fed Tensioners but I need to install the Pop valve in the AirBox (The reason I bought the 135 degree angle drill YEARS ago.) It also has the later model Rotary AC Compressor as opposed to the York Piston Compressor. Nice Sunroof, Fuchs Wheels and Original Black Paint. There is one thing I really like and one thing I really dislike! I Love the Clutch Pedal! With the later set up of extra Springs, it only takes Normal Human Strength to use it. What I do not like is the Turbo Spoiler. I will have to either get a Carrera or use our older turbo Spoiler. I also need to raise the car it is lowered and the harsh ride and install the Short Shifter form our car along with the SSI 1974 Style Header / Heater Boxes along with the 2 in and 2 out Stainless Muffler we have.

The rear shocks seem to be lacking in Rebound dampening so the Adjustable Koni's we have will also be used. He just installed a Permatune ignition which I need to play with along with the FI because it does not run clean at low RPMS Part throttle. Last, the e-Brake is totaly worthless so I have ordered new shoes and hope that will resolve this problem. I will be using the Clicker Style device I bought to hold the front hood up and the 2 strong units to hold up the truck lid.

Anyone have any more suggestions? (I do not think I like the Newer Bumpers as well as these for where I live (Washington DC)

Are you going to make a widebody? If you do then the tail will look right on your car. I was confused why you said you had to buy nothing newer than 1984? The next 911 Carrera many feel is an improved upon SC. Larger front rotors, motor is 3.2 slightly larger engine, and motronic which is actually better than CIS. Seems to me you have one or two small projects and your wife is more than up and running -- off to enjoy the Porsche. Jim

Everything I already have will easily fit the 1983 or earlier with no problems. It is the Devil I DO know vs the Devil I do not know! I also have a 1982 BMW 320I so I really understand CIS. It will be a while before I do the Wide Body and the Aero Drag of the Turbo Spoiler will just hold us back. My wife is very patient and waited for 10 years for me to get to this while I did my Land SPeed racing and everything else. It is her turn at the "Wheel"! For now, I will just change the Spoiler and get this one correct and then dismantle the 1976 and sell what I can and throw away what I cannot. Then back to the Motorcycles for relaxation and some serious speed!

The Sun Visors?? I have never seen this before! the 1976 is still correct but this one looks like AirBags and I see that this is common! Is there as Aftermarket that makes ones that do not Blow UP?

Last, Thank you Jim I see you help a LOT of people on this board and still use patience I never had!

Buy a beater and build it with your good parts and scrap your tub. Keep everything else of value. Its not worth the time and money to put that damage right, your pan and rockers look tweeked.
