the first thing you need to do is get the color code . there are 17 different guards red . when it comes to auto paint the name has no meaning ! only the color # does . them look in the phone book under auto paint supplys and go down to the auto paint store (with a gas door of other small part to the car you waht matched) and get what you need .

Thanks ! I never realized there were different shades of Guards Red, but now that you mention it my 911 does have a prettier color than my Guards Red 924 turbo had.

I've ordered Guards Red for my 944T from PaintScratch Touch-Up Paint (rs), Spray Cans, Spray Paint, Paint Pens, Car Paint, Automotive Paint, give them the paint code and they will mix anything from a paint pen to brush bottle to spray can to a full gallon. I haven't used it yet but I've heard good things about them and the silver spray can I bought for my Volvo matched quite well. It also depends on how much your paint has faded or oxidized which will effect how well it matches. It's tough to get an exact match unless you go to a professional shop and some places have an optical reader to mix an exact match.
