Engine lid release cable... Please help

Hi,
I'm replacing the door striker panel on the drivers side (78SC)
I need to know about the little tube for the engine lid release cable.
The old one was rusted so I have no idea how long it was.
Does it extend all the way from the door striker panel to the rear of the car? Or is the cable exposed for some length between the rear of the striker and the rear of the car?
Also, if anyone has had to work on or replace this tube, what did you use?
If anyone has a picture, that would be fantastic! I can't seem to find an actual illustration in my factory shop manual.
Thanks
Derek

It's one long piece from door jamb to latch plate.

There are some good place in spokane, WA

There are some good automotive shop in spokane WA. That can replace that piece. It is one long tube. If you have a tube bender and some metal skills you can replace it. But it is kind of a pain. I would recommend finding a company in spokane the restoration on porsche often and have them replace it. You'll be much more happy with the results.

Thanks for the tip but I'm doing the restore myself... I'm thinking about using some 1/4" brake tubing but I need to dig through my boxes of parts to find the cable for fitment.
