Great process for cleaning things. Not a body man but used it on other things and it works great. Pressure is the key, low pressure will even clean an antique book wihtout hurting it.

The best part about using dry ice blasting (against sandblasting or sodablasting) is there is barely any clean up.
Sandblasting can warp the metal if not done correctly and you have all of prep work before hand.
Soda blasting is better and much less pre work.. I have even seen it done with the window and trim still on. Clean up is a *****

The believe there is more cost with the dry ice machines but I don;t know. The did the roof on the Philadelphia Art museum with that process.. very interesting

930dreamer,

Dry ice blasting is an awesome way of cleaning. It has many advantages over traditional hydro/sand/soda blasting techniques. Here is the basic rundown.

Dry ice blasting is the process of shooting dry ice at a surface using high pressured air. As the dry ice hits the surface, it turns in to CO2 gas in a process called sublimation. This process blows the debris off of the surface. Here are some notes:
  • dry ice blasting (generally) does not hurt the surface.
  • dry ice blasting is eco-friendly
  • dry ice blasting creates no hazardous byproduct to cleanup (like contaminated water or sand)
  • dry ice blasting is a really cool thing to tell your friends that you did ;-)
