Crashed in Turn 2 at Mosport
Hello Everyone,
I drove 6 hours from Oshawa Ontario to Holly Michigan last fall to buy a beautiful red 85.5 944NA with 36000 miles on her. Drove her home, joined the PCA and spent $5000 putting her right again - new timing belt, water pump, OEM ball joints and control arms at $800 each... hood struts etc.. My story is that I signed up for some DE events this summer and was having a lot of fun with Holly when rain began to hit the windshield during my green run session. It was sunny out and the track remained green but a little wobble under braking going into turn 5 told me to slow down. When it rains you drive the wet line which is anywhere but the dry line which turns to grease wet it's wet. After braking at the top of turn 2, the car lost grip entering the big left turn and began to drift toward the wall. I believe I gave it a little throttle to try and straighten her out but I can't say for certain. All that did was cause her to regain some traction as we were sliding sideways propelling us nose first into the wall between 40 and 50mph. It was like very slow motion. After hitting, we rolled to a safe stop in the grass. I could hear the fan hitting the rad so I killed the engine. The rain was pelting down so hard by now that the DE event and the evening events were cancelled for the day. The ambulance took me to the Bowmanville hospital for xrays and released me at 6pm. I taxied back to the track to find nearly everyone gone and my little red 944 parked alone in the paddock with her nose pushed in like a boxer. I felt badly. She is pretty banged up and I only had a stiff neck. It was a joint club event and I could hear some of the visitors laughing so I walked over to their trailers and found my instructor, family and friends finishing dinner. They jumped up when they saw me and gave me a warm welcome. It felt nice. So I've decided to save Holly from those who would part her out but she needs a lot of work. For parts she needs everything from the shock towers forward. She needs a new hood, fenders and practically everything underneath. While I was in the hospital someone tried to open it and cracked the windshield so now she needs a new windshield as well. Any help /suggestions with any parts/advice etc would be much appreciated and welcome. Thanks for reading my story. Sorry it's long but it needed to get out there. Wannabee1010 |

Sorry to hear that story. Glad your OK. You seem to have a positive outlook on this and that is the first step on getting your car back together. I don't have any parts for the 944 but will let you know if I see any of the parts your looking for.
Keep us posted.

I would look for a car with a blown engine, they are typically around and sell for not alot of money. Then move your engine and drivetrain to the new car.
Or George B. at 944 Ecology would likely have all that you need. http://944ecology.com/ |

I think I might be able to get you a cheap 944 , with a blown engine of course , 0 body damage. Use What you need , and sell the rest, or use it for spare parts. buster er just Doug
