Paint for Misc Black Sheetmetal Parts?

What suggestions do you have for paint for the miscellaneous black sheetmetal parts I'll need to be cleaning up (engine sheetmetal, seat brackets, pedal cluster, etc.)? Some of the stuff has light surface rust, some just flaking paint, but POR seems to be overkill and Rustoleum rattle can seems a little too temporary. Anything suggestions?

If you have a powder coating co. near by, have them do it.

Look up "SEM" I believe. My paint shop has them in spray cans and comes in different colors. I did all the parts you mentioned including suspension components with it. Applies directly to metal, no primer. I do use high temp paint for engine sheetmetal though....

I used a local u-blast sand blaster - hourly rental at a very reasonable rate. Then rattle can primer and paint. Did this about 4 years back and still looks acceptable.

sem rust-shield . i use allot of it in my shop . they stopped selling it in spray cans ! but if you want to use it and don't have an air compressure order a preval spray kit . there only about 15 dollars and take the place of a spray can . if you use rust-shield get flat black and use there hardener mix it 8 part black to 1 part hardener it will make the shine a semi gloss and match the OE gloss to a tee . rust-shield is a one step DTM coating so you don't have to prime any parts 1st . if you do go with the preval system you will also have to add in some enamel reducer so the mix will be 8 to 1 to 1 reducer . get a fast enamel reducer this will help in keeping a good shine to the finish .
