75 carrera, sunroof rust

The drain tubs for the sun roof pocket did not drain du to blockage. The whole sunroof assembly(pocket and drain tubs) is badly rusted including a hole in the roof(back right corner). I have a replacement roof(sunroof compleate). Has any ever replaced the sunroof assembly by way of drilling out spot welds or should I replace the entire roof?

With both repairs you would be removing the headliner. With just replacing the sunroof you could leave the the glass in - but I'm thinking you would have a ton of mud on that roof by the time you were done. . An outright replacement of the roof at the pillars means you need to pop the glass - but leaves you with a small amount of body work. If it were me - I'd replace the entire roof. Also - while measuring, cutting, and fitting the roof are pretty straightforward jobs - you better make sure your welding skills are up to the task.

Good Luck
