Tear in front bearing bracket. Weld or replace?

I had vacation time this week so I've been attempting to make some progress on my 911 that hasn't been driven since 2003. However, the more crawl around / under and probe the more problems I discover. The latest is a tear I noticed in the driver's side bearing bracket for the front pan.

What the consensus, clean it up and weld it closed or replace the whole bracket?

Thank you,

Tinker

I would use a strong wire wheel and get all that rust out, followed by a deep penetrating weld at the tear. I would then sister another piece of metal around it and weld it all up. Paint and undercoat...nones the wiser....
