RSR front bumper fitment dilemma

HI,
I bought a used front bumper from someone through this site. By all accounts, it should fit on my '70 911E (targa). I have checked measurements from at least one of the companies that sells these things and the measurements seem to all add up. Anyway, when I go to intall it, it is about an inch or two short on each side. The bumper is pushed back as far as it will go and I am still this short. I was thinking that maybe I need to shave a bit off the rear portion of the front of the bumper to allow it to slide further back. However, I do not want to start cutting anything until I am sure that this is the only way of making this fit. Does anyone have any suggestions about this before the saw comes out?
I appreciate any input anyone can offer.
Thanks,
Tim

most fiberglass front bumpers come without the notch on the rearward edge. So they don't "fit" as a result.
This notch is to clear the tub so it can fit further back, just like the oe 69-73 bumpers

TRE Cup,
Looks like we are onto something here!! By any chance, do you have a picture or diagram as to where this notch would go? I have an idea, but like I said, before the saw comes out, I want to make sure of what I am doing and confirm it with an expert.
Thank you so much for your help!!
Tim
