cleaning filler ?
Being a rookie I have a tendency to over sand my filler. Before I add another layer of filler I wipe the spot down with enamel paint cleaner. I hand dry it. Then let it sit for a 1/2 hour. Is this ok?
I did the same on my 911. The paints held up for ten years, so its probably ok. But is it a wasted step?

Yes,it's a wasted step.Once the filler is dry to sand it should be recoated after a thourough blowing off.The chemical bond between any paints and filler is always best when done as soon as possible.
