Body Work : : Welding Question 2

I was not aware of this Body Work forum..

What would be a fair price, to have a body shop graft in a 72 oil door on my Carrera?

Have the entire piece (sheet metal) off a 72. Just like this.

do you know why porsche stopped putting the oil filler there on there cars ? people were putting fuel in them . as for the price ? your looking at about 2 hours labor to weld it in to the qtr and do the plastic work around it . how is doing the install of the rest of the system ? because i don't know what the shop labor rate is were you live there is no way to give you a price of the cost . labor rates are not all the same from state to state .

Hello, Porsche 962

Yes, I guess porsche only had the oil door on the 72, because of the fuel confusion.

It's a RUF tribute car, so I'm not concerned about the oil tank mounting etc.

I just need a ball park figure on the bodywork aspect. Welding, body work etc.

like i said i don't know the labor rate of the shops in your area . but were i'm at in CT you would be looking at about 2 hours labor at 50 an hour plus material cost of about 55 dollars . materials needed would be welding wire and gas , seam sealer for the under side of the weld , E-primer , body filler , and filler primer . plus sand paper and grinding disc's total should be from 150 to 200 with out paint .
