stress cracks
I am trying to put a 77 911 into daily driver condition. the car was modified by a san diego company in 1978 to a slant nose cabriolet. the front fenders and rear fender flares are metal. the front fenders have each developed a stress crack just behind the air vents. how can i eliminate flexing in this area?

drill little 1/8 " holes at the ends of the cracks . then weld the cracks on the top and under sides . back up the under side with some sheet matel by welding it on . use weld primer on the under side patch . the patch should only need to be about an inch bigger than the crack . metal will only crack of it is flexing . so find out why its flexing and weld on bracing to stop it .
