getting rid of strakes
I am not sure if "strake" is the correct term but I have been seeing lots of otherwise acceptable cars that have strakes cut into the rear fenders like in the picture below. They don't suit my taste. It looks to me that the only way to get rid of these would be cut/weld/finish/repaint. Is there another less invasive way? Do they actually have a purpose? Trying to decide if getting rid of the strakes is easier than trying to find the other attributes I am looking for.

for the most part your right on that is the only way to get rid of them . the main reason there there is to cool the rear brakes . but the down side is it adds a high pressure area under the rear QTR's . i removed them on my 930 it took about 10 hours for each side to get them into primer then the paint time . you call the panels that are in the rear of a car quarters the fenders are the panels that are on the front of a car . if its a car like the old vw bug then you can call all there panels that cover the wheels fenders because they bolt on .
