How to know the original color?
Hello srs.
I am new in this forum and actually new at the 911 world. I am looking for an early 911 here in Spain and I there is one that the owner can not say wich was the original color of the car. Now it is silver because he painted it in this color some years ago but when he bought it, it was black (the inner parts of the boot are in this color). Is there any way to know what is the original color of the car? Is there any number in the car that can tell it? I would appreciate your knowledge. regards |
there are two ways . the 1st is check the metal tag on the left door jam on early cars . later cars there in the trunk . the 2nd is to call porsche parts with the vin number . they can also tell you by that .

As 962 pints out, there is, on older cars, a paint "tag" in the doorjam. later models would have a sticker, in the trunk, with color/option codes.
Depending on the quality of a possible repaint, check other small, more hidden areas, such as under weatherstripping, carpets, trunks, engine compartment. Also consider paint wear and tear is appropriate for age/mileage/interior conditions. |
Thank you very much for both of us. I will check the places you say.
