Local Rust Pits - primer questions - edited
Here is my new Winter Project:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1325096642.jpg Not as extensive as others, but it needs to be cleaned out. OK, I get it... new topic. Rust is being removed by a small grinding wheel and carbide burr. The general surface rust was scuffed off with sand paper, but the pits! Ugh they were deep. So they had to be ground out. I have time and the deep pits are only in a few locations thankfully, so going the sand blasting route is a little overkill. Looking at the posts and the 101, I'm still a little confused since most posts refer to things like "DTM" "RM" "EP" and other abbreviations that just make it hard to figure out what is being refered to. I've done a lot of searching but without a spreadsheet, I am losing track of all the suggestions. Guess I need a spreadsheet... What is DTM? and Why is it good? |
Oh, DTM = "Direct to Metal"
RM = R-M a brand name...got it. |

Mike - PickleX20 is a good rust converter product you could also use prior to priming. Go here to read about it. I used on my repaint as is Fishcop. Autobodystore Forums
