Sag or just shorter
Hi Everyone, This being the first time I've posted please bare with me . I have a 73' 2.0L 914. The sad thing is that it sags, But even when you jack it up an take all the sag out there's a 3/8" difference from the driver's to the passenger side. I can get 3/16" gap on both sides of the drivers door, but the passenger door the gaps are 1/8" in the front and very tight on the rear. What gives???

Start by looking for serious rust in the longs (behind the rockers), the rear firewall, hell hole below battery and suspension points on the rear.

over the years were have done some 914's that will fold in half from the rocker rusting out and when you open the doors the weight just sags the car in the middle . what you need to do is get the chassis measurements and measure the car to see just were it is out .
what we do in my shop is drop the car on the celette bench . we then will cut and install the new panels that are in need of replacing when the car is on the bench . doing it that way the car is going to be 100% right . i have the measurements for the 914 body cars but because of the size every time i shrink them to email or fax they become to small to read . i'm sure you can find them on line some place . Pull the rocker panels and start poking with a screw driver. If you jack up the car, don't crawl under until you know it won't fold up on you.
