Rust in corner(s) of windshield... help!
hey all. searched around for a bit... I'm sure this has been addressed in the past, maybe someone can point me in the right direction. what should I do about this nasty rust?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1336901114.jpg appears the p.o. may have tried to cover it up with some kind of quick fix.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1336901144.jpg open to suggestion! thanks guys p.s. I love this forum! |
Yep it's been addressed quite a bit. You will need to pop the windshield out and remove the front fenders for a proper repair. The rust is most likely three times the size you see in the photos. I would venture a guess from the photos that the rust has probably rust ta hole in the panel and water is entering the passenger compartment and the trunk area.
You will need to weld in a repair panel similar to this. You could make your own of sheet metal. Obviously the panel will be trimmed to fit the repair. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1336906041.jpg Be prepared if the rust is there it is lurking in other areas of your car as well. |
just a thought... why would u let it go this far?????????

thanks for the quick response! is that part something that pelican sells?
|
Yes, but it looks like it is temporarily unavailable. Look on the for sale section you may get lucky and find a car that is being parted out. There is another source for sheet metal but at the moment the suppiers name escapes me. Sorry.
