Hunting for a Paint Code!

Hey guys;

I have been reading and buying parts here for a while, but I had a question.

I'm repainting my BMW E30 and FINALLY found a color I liked, but I need your help to identify it.

This is the car that I saw that made me want grey.

I have since found it to be called "Slate Grey", but what is the paint code? (and is that car actually slate grey?)

On Glasurit I found two different codes for this color, 6401 and 6801.

The BASF code for 6801 is 7794.

Is that right?

the 1967 /1968 color code for slate grey is 6801 .
there are a total of 9 other porsche's painted slate grey with the 99 color codes .

the other numbers you listed are not porsche numbers ! they are stock order colors . i will not get into just what they mean at this time .

there are also slate grey metallic colors porsche offered . if i rember right there are two metallic's and one solid color called slate grey
23F i think was used from 1987 to 2004
22D i think was used from 1991 to 2010

so yes that car does look like it's slate grey ? and the porsche color code would be the 6801 . but the color chip i have looks to be just a little lighter than the car in this photo . but that may not meen much because you can't match colors to a computer screen .
