Still WTB: Glasurit 22 Line
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Pelicans, Is there anyone out there that can mix up and ship to me a batch of paint code 6403 ("Emailblau") or Sky Blue so that I can spray on my bare-metal 1966 912? I already have the formulation from the Glasurit website, and am happy to provide it. No one I've called yet seems to want to sell it. They're too busy trying to convince me that what I really want is a base coat/clear coat set of products. (Nooooo, I want 22 Line). I would also need the Glasurit body filler and primers that go under it. I've done my homework, and I'm pretty sure I know what I want/need. Finally, I was hoping for the reducer and hardener to be sent in separate cans, of course, until I'm ready to spray. Generally speaking, it this possible? Or am I doomed to settle? I'm located near Phoenix, zip code 85142 Regards, Keith keith.kins@cox.net |

You should be able to get it from your nearest Glasurit jobber although many have dropped 22Line.You may also be able to get it from a bodyshop that carries a 22Line mixing system .To locate one you would have to talk to a jobber who carries BASF products. What ever you do,don't compromise and hold out for 22Line,It's the best single stage paint available IMHO.And of course your 66 would have had single stage paint originally.I does take more skill to apply it however(than base and clear).

Just a thought, call BASF for your district managers/salespersons phone number. I'm almost right behind you. 22 is the way to go.
Good Luck Gene

Thanks, folks. I appreciate your input.
I think I've sent emails to the BASF folks overseas, and as I recall, they simply forward my message to a local Glasurit dealer here in Phoenix who has absolutely no interest in obtaining the 22 Line. ("Nobody buys that anymore.") Then they try to convince me that the Uno product line (a cheaper quality/formulation) that they sell is "almost the same thing" as 22 Line. I'm wondering how the restoration shops can truthfully advertise that they're putting 22 Line on their restorations when the stuff seems to no longer exist anywhere on the planet. Oh well, so much for giving the customer what they want. If anyone else cares to weigh in, I'd be grateful. In the meantime, I'll call the westpennlaco folks in Pennsylvania. Thanks again, Keith |

It's a dead horse. Would you stock 15 k worth of useless tints ?
22 is a good high solid Granted. But so is ppg , spies , sikkens. Etc If your going full blown show ". Cool. If not go with local ppg jobber and Call it a day.... And the thing nobody ever talks about ..... If you don't know how to lay it down wet ". And I mean wet and fast You couldn't pick a worse product. You gotta move when you spray 22 Grab some ppg concept line single stage |

spraying 22 line is no deferent than any other single stage product out there . if your a painter and not a sprayer you then will know that spraying is about many things . tip size in the gun what reducer and hardeners your useing and the over lap of your pattern . knowing the deferents between paint lines and knowing how to and what to do is what makes a painter a painter and a sprayer a sprayer . |
