Matching Gold Paint 1972 Porsche
I have a 72 coupe with 90% orig paint. Gold. It needs to have a panel painted. A trusted source tells me that the old metal has much smaller flake than todays paint.
Any ideas for me out there? I hate to respray an ultra straight orig car. Thanks in advance Rick CaliforniaPorscheS.com |

you were told wrong ! your trusted source is not all that trusted if you ask me !
if the code is 133 which is the most popular for the years used in 1972 and 1973 then us glasurit . i have painted it in the past uning 55 line with good luck i have not sprayed it in waterborne yet but all the flakes are the same between the two systems so my guess is that even if it's sprayed in the 90 line you will still have a good match . the other thing is there should never be a reason to refinish a hole car for just needing to refinish one panel . it the worst you may need to blend into the panel next to it being it a old finish and over time the color may have changed a bit . |
