Air compressor help...

I am trying to find a air compressor that will run air tools ( sanders, impact etc.) and one that has the ability to run a paint gun. I don't even know if I will be using a paint gun but would rather overbuy than under. Would like to keep it under 300 if possible.. run on 120v.. what type of specs should I be looking for? Any ideas on a good one??

Sorry, you won't find anything decent for under $300.
I just bought a new I.R. compressor for my shop 5 HP, 60 Gal, 15CFM@90PSI, 220VAC. I would consider it the bottom end for a home shop. It was on sale at Tractor Supply for $900.

I just bought and installed one of these this summer and I'm very happy with it: Shop Kobalt 3.7 HP 60-Gallon 155 PSI Electric Air Compressor at Lowes.com

It's actually a Campbell Hausfield with Lowe's name on it. It does:

Air Delivery SCFM @ 40PSI - 13.4

Air Delivery SCFM @ 90PSI - 11.5

...which works for me for using HVLP paint guns as well as most air tools.

$500. It runs on 220VAC.

It replaced a Husky 26 Gallon 1.5 HP 120 VAC compressor that produced 4.0 CFM at 90 PSI and 5.0 CFM at 40 PSI.

I couldn't find anything that would come close to working for HVLP paint guns that worked on 120 VAC.

Sanders would also be problematic using a smaller compressor - they take a whole lot of air. With most $300 compressors, you'd find the compressor would be running all the time and still would not be able to supply enough CFM to run the sander at the proper RPM's. Been there, done that.

I have 2 for work (I am a chimney sweep) and they seem to work fine and for $150 each it works
only problem I have had so far is they seem to not seat well if very cold

You really need a 80 gallon if you want to do body work.

A 60 gallon will constantly be running to keep up with your demand when using DAs and other sanders.

I went with Mikepellegrini Lowes lead and bought that... so far so good!! Thanks guys for input.
