targa rear glass installation

Anyone have any helpful hints to ease the pain when installing the rear glass in a 1970 Targa? Thanks

There are quite a few posts on the Technical Forum. Do a search.

Keeping all the pieces together, the gasket on the glass, and the trim in the gasket, then getting the rope inserted all the way around was incredibly frustrating. Ultimately, with a friend, we did a little at a time, taping everything together as we went (from the inside of the glass to the outside, holding the pieces in place, as pictured). Otherwise there wasn't enough tension on the gasket to stay on the edge of the glass. Once we finally got it all together, though, the actual installation wasn't too bad. We had my wife also helping at that point, helping to put downward pressure on the glass as I pulled out the rope, pulling the inner edge of the gasket over the body flange. We had never done this before, and managed, so it can be done!

As you see many beers were also required.

Good luck!
Mike

MGB front glass and targa rear glass is some thing most glass shops will not do .
the glass shop we use the guy will cut glass and do all types of custom glass but he will not do targa glass .
so it's always left up to us to do our selfs . it's not to bad to do you have to have 3 or 4 people and you have to take your time .
