1972 911 w/ body update kit
Hello, I just bought another 911, after a 20 year break!
The car that I bought is a 1972 911T, with a then popular I guess, "update kit" to look like an SC. The car is otherwise straight and rust free. My thought is that I need to return it to the original 911T look, however I am wondering how big of a project this may be...... I believe new hood, front and rear valance and front fenders will need to be swapped? Are there quality parts still available? Any and all advice is welcome! Thank you. ![]() |

You can buy all the parts to take it back to how it looked originally. I believe Pelican sells most of those parts, if not, take a look in Stoddard's website

Part of your total cost , returning it to original, will depend on how the update was done. A popular way to do it "correctly" was to cut the nose off the early tub, and splice in a later model nose cut. They would go straight across the gas tank opening area , and in doing so updated the inside/outside of the tub with all the correct mountings for bumper, smile, lower valence, battery location.
If that is the case with your car, then its not easy to find an early chassis cut (1969-73 will do just fine) in good shape. Open the trunk, take out the spare and other loose items. Then post a few pics of the inside nose of the trunk. We can help advise from there

Thank you TRE
I will take those shots. It does still have the two battery boxes however, and no real sign of cut and paste. I am praying that I can swap it back easily ( though not cheaply).
Also looking for a good set of aftermarket OEM looking sport seats too....... Thank you |

Check out Rare Drive for seats. Very nice stuff, I've seen several sets of their seats and steering wheels too. Very nice looking.
