I finally got around on the weekend to removing the roof with the buyer who purchased it
for his 88 cab, My car was built originally with hardtop until one of the previous owners thought a cab roof would look better, which some do like but i dont agree for a cab roof be put on to a Euro 1977 930, So im starting the steps to make it as it did when it was originally built 37 years ago. The Cars prev mods included 964 bodykit, side skirts cab roof 915 tranny bigger turbo steel reinforced bars welded to inside of rear wheel arches to support cab roof mod Those are the mods that will need to be removed to get it closer to factory Ive already returned the front end to 930 as po had a 964 body kit on it the rear 964 still has to be addressed also Ive had a couple of quotes for a roof be put on but ill need to at least try tackle it myself as i simply cant afford to pay someone over ten grand for the work Remember this is a fairly rare car a Euro 930 it started out life as a Hardtop i think it needs to go back to that im sure most would agree. my list in order to do this 1 Buy roof off Ebay or clasifieds, im quite sure that all 911 roofs from the period are the same dimensions as the 930 so i dont think it will be too hard sourcing one. 2 Buy a welder 3 Learn to weld 4 im guessing electricals, trim and paint Anyway ill post pics through this it will be interesting to say the least ![]() Ive never done this but then again this is the first porsche that ive owned where ive been doing the work myself as my prev ones were close to mint. Anyone with any experience in this area im all ears ill keep updating as i pull stuff off ![]() Here she is with cab roof ![]() here s after roof removed, or other way around..could have posted pics backwards.

Ive sort of found a roof, seller said i need a roof with all the pillars intact and full length..
Can it be done an easier way? ie; buy the pillars seperately off ebay and weld them to a roof panel and then to the car or is it too much stuffing around? Im just put off by the high asking price at $2,500 bucks Is it possible to buy the pillars separately and then a roof panel and weld them together? While looking for a roof solution Ive started on the front bits to bring them up to better condition i cleaned and painted under fenders with rustoleum rubber spray then painted over with a grey blue hammered finish, i found a rust spot under battery panel so i converted the rust , zinced it and applied a bit of metal putty, i think ill need to sand it down but not a big problem,, brakes i cleaned , blew out with air and painted them and suspension bits with a red enamel rust inhibiting paint. I took out tank check for condition, just had light surface rust inside so i used apple cider vinegar to rinse it out with and it worked well , i painted that as well also with the rubber paint, after i cold gal for undercoat, it should keep it vibration free and rust proof for years to come.. also cleaning up suspension and brakes, hopefully by the time i get to the back end ill have a roof sorted ![]() Paint was a mix of blue and grey hammered finish which i brushed on ![]() Rinsed Tank with Vinegar ![]() Spray Painted with Zinc then sprayed rustoleum ![]() Luggage bay, spray painted with Zinc waiting for it to dry for a topcoat ![]() Stabiliser Brush painted with hammered grey and sprayed with red enamel ![]() Brush Painted rest of Tank area with grey hammered over the zinc ![]() Underbody needs to be done soon ![]()

So I 'm guessing the fact that I picked up a roof a couple of years ago for $250 - that must've been the deal of the century?!?!?
