Door Handle - Anodizing - So. Cal
I will be taking off the interior panels of my 85 911 to address rattling with the windows and thought it would be a good time to have the exterior handles re-anodized.
I am in So. Cal and I am looking for shops that could do this and estimates on what it would cost. Thanks. |
There is a posting in the for sale/wanted section, a guy named Vik - that does anodizing. Don't know where he is from but I spoke to him about having some work done for my car and he seemed a decent guy.
|
Chris, can you dig up that Aluminum/Anodizing guy Vik.? Can't seem to find the thread. Thx

Thanks Guys. I will definitely check him out.

Do you realize the outer door handles were not clear anodized? LNL Anodizing in Sun Valley is who I use when I need parts anodized. jdorociak@gmail.com Jim

Yes chrome plated. Jim Anodizing goes over aluminum not steel. The aluminum trim pieces were anodized -- Sail panel trim pieces, door glass frame those are aluminum and to refinish you have to have the anodizing stripped, the part then needs to be high polished and then clear anodized.

Door handles are cast zinc ! NOT aluminum, not steel. Meant for powder painting or chrome plating
|
Door handles are die cast zinc. They were original black zinc chromate plated. No one does this anymore and you wouldn't want to since most door handles are pitted.
I only Cerakote door handles, or chrome of course. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515088513.JPG |
Shaun how do you deal with the pitting?
I'm thinking of sending you my targa windshield frame trim (black) to anodize or cerakote - do you think that makes sense? |
Pitting is filled in with JB Weld Jason. Works wonders for doing fans and housings, below.
I'm doing all of the black anodizing on two 76 Turbos right now. Your SC had painted trim so Cerakote would definitely be better than SEM Trim paint or catalyzed paint. I could anodized them, that would work as well depending on condition. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1515162597.JPG |
