Battery tray rust and repair questions
I posted similar in 911 forum and realized it probably should be in the paint and body work section. so here goes:
Hello all. I am new to the forum and my 79 SC. I made a big mistake when purchasing the car and did not look under the battery for rust. Needles to say regardless of the excellent condition elsewhere, I found the dreaded rust. I have cut out some of the tank support to analyze the situation and it looks like the front pan is good but the tank support needs replacement. I am looking for the following parts and can not seem to find them. The 1st is the battery hold down bracket and the 2nd is the front part of the battery tray that is welded on top of the tank support. Can anyone tell me if these parts exist or if I need to fabricate them. I have the tank support on order and will be removing more of it prior to prep and welding but would like to get the other pieces if available. ![]()

The battery hold down seems to be part #911 611 209 00. You can try placing an add in the Parts Forum for a cheap used one.
The battery tray is available from RD. Pelican Parts - Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche & BMW Restoration Design | Battery tray 1974-89
