rough est of metal work hrs for parcel shelf, rear seat, front latch panel?

Hello Everyone,

I recently acquired a 1972 911T coupe that had a leaking right rear qtr window which resulted in rust in the rear parcel shelf and right rear seat. The car had previously been converted to a short hood by the PO, so I intend to convert back to a long hood RS clone. The car needs a new front latch panel, battery boxes, and part of the front inner fender near the latch panel needs to be repaired.

I recently stripped down the car to the chassis and had it blasted and powder coated with DuPont primer. I attached a few photos of the car as it is now and you can see where there was rust in the rear.

I am trying to estimate how many hours it would take to fix these three areas assuming that new replacement panels are used, so wanted to see if anyone might have a rough idea on the hours it would take an experienced 911 metal guy to:

1) remove and replace rear parcel shelf?
2) replace or patch rear right seat that had rust?
3) remove and replace front latch panel and weld battery boxes?

Interested in your thoughts on how many hours these repairs might take for purposes of getting bids down the road.

Thanks,

Mike

Based on my experience, here is a guestimate. Bear in mind that I'm an amateur and not a professional metal man. There are various experts on here that would be able to give you a detailed breakdown. A pro, supplied with decent replacement panels, would be able to do it faster.
The fit and quality of the replacement parts you order has a direct impact on the time it takes to fit and weld.

BUT without seeing the car and carefully inspecting the rust, a pro will be reluctant (or unable) to give you an accurate quote.

1) remove and replace rear parcel shelf? The corners of the shelf seem to be in decent condition. These are tricky. Drill spot welds and cut = 4 hours, grind and prep for new panel = 1 hour, fettle new panel for replacement = 2 hours, weld in = 1 hour, grind = 1 hour. If the brace between the shelf and the rear window frame is rotten then add a few hours for removing, fabricating and welding.
2) replace or patch rear right seat that had rust? If you have to fabricate the bottom of the bowl I would estimate 2 hours to to cut, prep and weld with clean-up. Perhaps 6 hours for fabricating the patch. Maybe less if the beater has a wheel
3) remove and replace front latch panel and weld battery boxes? Difficult to tell how bad the edges and bottom are. These are the tricky bits if they have to fabricated to accept the new slam panel. If you are going to order the entire slam panel then the metal work is not that complicated. Drilling out all the spot welds = 4 hours. Prepping and plug weld drilling the new piece = 3 hours. Fitting and fettling = 2 hours. Welding = 2 hours. Grinding = 2 hours

My two cents. I hope this helps.

Rear Seat

Rear seat replacement buckets are available. I'll guess that they are 300.00 per side. Fitting vs. fabricating is easier. Beware of thin metal that isn't rusted through.

Best of Luck

Try to find a donor chunk of factory metal. RD parts are very good but they just don't fit like the factory panels. Your particular sheet metal was used from 72-89 so it should be easy to get a rear clip shell.
