Ok it's time for me. 911 Targa SC conversion to... :D

Hi there!

Now it's time for me. I bought 911 targa 3.0sc 1982, widebody. That was my dream! Visual condition wasn't very good but I didn't spend to much money.

SO
I decided to rebuid that car. To make my own version of 911
I'll be updating the status of work here.
You can follow the job also here:
https://www.facebook.com/porsche9eleven

Enjoy!

Ok, it's time for an update of this thread

As you know I bought 911 Targa. My 911 needed a mix of time, money and passion. I thought to myself, why not to make my own

vision of 911? And that's what I decided to do and what I will be writting about in this thread.

OK, let's go! That's how Targa looked like that day when I bought it:

A day after, in the morning:

A garage is prepared for a baby

I delivered the engine to my mechanic. Diagnosis shocked me! Crankshaft seals and some more seals replacement and... That's all!
The engine: Instagram
And the rolling chassis:

I decided that I will keep on interior myself. I need to mention that it makes me fulfilled as a designer.

Sunvisors. Before and after:

Gear shift is not as precise as it could be. First change is a short shifter. I will publish next step when I finish it

Laminates. Why laminates will you ask? There are a few reasons:
First of all I love shape of classic 911 from 1969-73. Long bonnet, horn grills, duck tail are fantastic!
Secondly, weight. Laminates weight nothing.
Thirdly, price. But it doesn't matter because weight and old shape are most important for me.

I love the way how Singer do it. I bought metal, leaky mats

The Devil is in the details. Horngrills!

Lamp lenses and housing.

So... which wheels? I have a few more options

Next metamorphosis. Interior ledges between glass and upholstery. These elements are very visible that's why they should be

perfect. They are perfect

Seatbelts covers. They looked bad. Reconstruction was hard because I needed to cut all of holes... They came out perfectly.

I didn't know that renovation of targa bar is so hard! Fortunetaly "hard" means that I need more time, not that it's "impossible"

Gear shift knob.

I got a parcel from the other side of the world.

Next shopping. From England this time. Dansk pre-muffler and Fabspeed muffler bypass.
They say it sounds like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKfvPl4kej0#t=156

911 should be a little stronger but if I imagine that roar... Uuuuu yeah!
My expression a while after reciving a parcel says everything! --> Instagram
Pics of exhaust:

Many evenings spent in Adobe Illustrator. Engine decals are ready for printing! You will ask me why just not to buy them? Yep

that's easier way. But mine are more accurate. Exactly the same as original. The same font, the same kerning... I made identical

decals as original! Printer said that 1 piece and 1000pcs is the same price. So... I ordered 100pcs
I get first printing soon. Propably this week.

Side mirrors:

It's a good practise to replace some parts just in any case.

The most expensive piece of rubber I've ever seen! Targa body seals.

A liitle part that keep shift gear bushings clear.

Air filter.

I'm very curious how a new exhaust will sound. I recieved rest of parts I need for assembly.

Maybe you know what color code is there on that GT3? I mean grey of course.
I think it will look sweet on my Targa

Front shape. It will be sth like this:

Some parts arrived: front and rear window seals, front hood and rear bonnet struts.

Some targa roof parts are powder coated.

A few new plans:
1. Removing AC
2. Removing cruise control

Excellent work.

Group 4 wheels would look really mean on your widebody:
