Paint choice, '78, back date color advice
Dont' want to offend, but thinking of painting my 78 sc targa a color from an earlier year…maybe in the greens/olive or grays …currently copper metallic brown….any thoughts. Have others done it with later year swb cars and back dated colors, but due to the lines of the car, how does it look, pictures to share? Mine is not a black out…i have the polished hoop, and do have back dated '74 chrome mirror (just a left side mirror), '69 engine grille…polished chrome fuchs…so i have the chrome look that will fit with early years…except it is the bigger bumpers and '78 wheel flares of course. Examples would be fun to see. This car was already repainted (PO) over its original green color.
this is great forum. thanks dave ![]() |

there is nothing wrong with back dating a color of your 911 .
the only real time some thing like this would be wrong is if the car is rare from the factory . when I bought my 996 new I ordered it as a 99 color from the 70's . at times what's old is new again. |
