Getting ready to send to paint

As much as Id like to do a full restore, I'm sure we all would, I'm dissembling my car as much as I can before I send it to the paint shop.

I'll be posting some pics soon

In the mean time, a simple question: What should I do about the vin sticker, tape over it?

You did not mention if you are repainting it in the original red or not.If you are keeping it red and the lock pillar panel is good original paint then mask off and save that entire lock pillar("B"pillar or "B"post depending on which side of the atlantic)if it is in acceptable condition. If it is inevitable to paint it then mask out well beyond the VIN sticker to begin with to protect the edges of the sticker during prep and keep primer away from the edges and finally mask using fine line tape before topcoat to minimise build up near edges.Use a low strength tape for masking it to protect it to avoid disintegrating on removal of the tape and do not leave tape on for prolonged periods of time.

Staying red, although other colors are tempting, i don't wanna go that far

now wondering if I should remove fenders.... hmmmmm

Tape the vin. I'd pull the glass and fenders. Pull the door handles as well.

Definitely, for the price of a new set of rubbers it will make things look like new. You can also (if your windshield is due for replacement), go for the 993 glued in windshield which is a little more aerodynamic and fits just fine.

Door handles are quite easy to get off, the door cards are 15 minutes to remove (given you know where all the screws are) and then just a couple of nuts hold them on.
