What is the proper way to block.
I'm getting close to priming and need some help as to the proper way to block. Looking at the car (70T) from wheel well to wheel well it appears that in the middle of the door there is a slight crest. So if you were to put a straight edge from the front flare across the door to the rear flare there would be a slight crest in the middle of the door. And that would be from the rocker up to the window. So can I assume I block so that it would be a straight edge form each wheel well to the center of the door from rocker to window? That would make the transition from each fender to center of door flat. If there is another process or suggestions on blocking please advise.

when block sanding you do it in a X pattern .
doing the longest sanding strokes you can are best also picking a block or blocks that kind of fit the shapes of what your sanding is a big help . |
Thanks 962porsche I was hoping you would chime in. Will take your advice. Can you tell me if there is a slight rise or crest as you get to the center of the door or should it be flat across the entire door. And would that hold true from rocker to window? It seems to me there is a intentional crest because it appears to be on both doors but just not sure. Thanks

yes kind of a very small crest in many doors but it's nothing to worry about if it's there or not as it's or should be so slight .

Thanks. Had notice that Freddie was working on REKTOR 911 and it appeared that it was flat from front wheel well across the door to the rear wheel well. Was wondering if I should try and make it flat or go with the crest.

just how much of a crest are you talking about ?

Up by the door handle maybe 1/16 - 1/8 on each side of the crest when holding a straight edge across the crest. That's using a 40 inch straight edge. In the middle maybe 1/8 - 1/4. And down by the rocker 1/16 - 1/8 again. Looks like about the same on both doors.

Not sure if this will help pics not real good.

it could be a little flatter but it's not really to much to worry about .
