What color primer should I use under Silver Metallic

I'm finally going to install a rear valence of my silver metallic 1978SC project car. The car came in about 75% original paint and 25% primer and was missing the valence. I found a former black valence that had been mostly sanded down to bare metal. Based on 962porsche's recommendation in another thread, I'm going to try Transtar primer sealer under Limco silver metallic. Transtar comes in three shades; white (6104), gray (6134), and black (6164).

Does it make a difference, and if so, which shade should I use? I will do a total, correct respray in a few years so this is just an interim step.

Thanks!

I went with gray.

Seems reasonable.

the gray is a little dark I would just the white .
I tend to mix the gray and white together 50/50 but I keep all 3 colors on my mixing machine so intermixing the colors is ez for me .

I would have guessed white, While you're at it, and I trust your advise so much, 962porsche: What would you use as a primer for Guards Red. I believe the factory used white. Would the beige work or would that
be too dark?

again a very light gray almost a white .
what the OE color is it's not a white but very light gray color . you are also seeing sealer and not primers under the factory finish .
the OE colors for primers are green or gray you some times see the colors on new OE parts if they do not have a black primer many people are used to seeing .
