Consensus Needed
Between various vendors and 3M, I can't get a straight answer as to the right product and best way to adhere the rear bumper to body trim! I thought I would use 3M's Super Weather-Strip adhesive, but they're saying you have to apply it to both the body and the rubber seal, let dry to a tack, and then attach. No easy task because the seal has an upper and lower lip that slides over the metal flange under the tail light opening. No way to apply the adhesive without it getting everywhere on the seal. Vendors are telling me its OK to just squeeze adhesive into seal and squish it on to the flange, clamp, and let dry overnight.
The seal wants to spring back but it has to follow the curve. I don't want it letting go after I've reinstalled the rear bumper... Thanks! ![]() |

After getting on the phone with a 3M tech that also seems to be the way to go. Thanks.
