Leading welded quarters

I am at the point after butt welding the stock quarter panel wheel openings on and finishing the grinding and metal work. I have not leaded in more then twenty years. I see the lead now days is not the same as then with different mixes of metals.
Has some here used the new type lead mix and how is it different to work with. Is it just a sales hype or are the new types that much safer and easier to work with.

Thanks

You're definitely ruling out the quality polyester body fillers? I know lead was original, but your options are much boader and easer to work with now.

Not really ruling out polyester. I just thought I am not in a hurry and doing it with lead would be less dust to clean up. We used to use lead on all the repairs long ago and its not that bad once you get used to the type of lead used.
We had two types: hard and soft.

I do not remember the exact mix but from what I have read it has changed a lot.
It seems hard to get the real story with all the sales pitch nonsense.

As a young lad we used to play with lead and mercury all the time so the scare tactics seem out of place for me. I have had a hard time finding lead sticks around here and will need to order it and was looking for some input is all.
Thanks

PS: I should of said thirty five years last time I used lead. LOOOOOOONG time ago.
