Unhappy 54 356 Brakes engine 12v ????????

Hi 356 er's

I am looking at the brakes of my 1954 356. I want to restore them what ( sounds silly but I know nothing!!! ) what do I need to look out for like what parts do I need . As I am guessing the cylinders will be duff .

So do I rebuild them or do I dump them for new ones

What will the cost be and were is the best place to get them from.

The car has not moved for 31 years ( did I forget to mention that bit. Ops

I am also wanting to put a 912 engine in the car for now is this easy to do or should I find a beetle engine ( will this be easyer than the 912 unit. ) The 912 unit is a 69.

Also any ideas about converting to 12v At the moment I would just like a temp solution to get it going for now.

And any items I should but on my I MUST BUY NOW LIST before they dry up.

Cheers

Mark

Mark,

If you don't have them, the following factory manuals may help you
out with your brake rebuild...........

(A) 356 PORSCHE EXPLODED-VIEW PART DIAGRAM SETS:
Exploded-view part diagrams are the line drawings from the original factory parts books. They show all parts/all models in exploded-view format so you can see how parts go together. Great visual aid for restoration, assembly and disassembly. Set comes in 3-ring binder. Sets are the line drawings only.
(1) 356-Pre-A Porsches (1950-1955), 51 pages-$14.

(B) 356 FACTORY WORKSHOP MANUALS:
These are "copies" of original factory workshop manuals, presented in 3-ring binders.
(1) Pre-A factory workshop manual, Pre-A cars 1950-1955, (copy) 350+ pages-$45.

(C) COMPLETE 356 PORSCHE FACTORY PARTS BOOKS:
Complete parts books include exploded-view diagrams, part numbers and complete part descriptions, each presented in 3-ring binder.
(1) Complete "copy" 1953 Pre-A Porsche factory parts book-160+ pages-$35.
(2) Complete "copy" 1955 Pre-A Porsche factory parts book-350+ pages-$45.

Inquire about out-of-USA postage cost. All books in 3-ring binders. Call or email for additional information. Payment for out-of-USA buyers
should be by bank check drawn on a US bank in $, or cash US$ sent
by registered mail.
