are 356 headlights interchangable with vw bettle or Käfer headlights? Are they interchangeable with 911s?

356 lights and VW bug type light buckets are different but interchangable, no on the 911's

So, we're talking pre-1967 VW parts, correct? I'm sure this shows my lack of 356 knowledge.

It would be nice to fit the Hella H4 units into a 356. Especially the 90/130 watt units.

There is a nice listing of what you can use from other cars in a 356 (Mercedez, VW, Volvo all have something we can use) in the Registry's "Technical and Restoration Guide", and there is a copy somewhere on the registry website as well.

But yes, the headlights are the same, if you specify that you want the Hella logo not the VW logo on the glass. A coworker has a '66 Transporter split window bus, and his headlights are an exact match for what is on my '65 C coupe - with the voltage exception. (I've got 6v, he has a 12v system).
