Evita Perón Porsche 356 in Carrera Panamericana

I heard there was a white 356 maybe sponsored by Eva Peron in the Mexican road races in the '50s and found a picture of it today. Was it owned by her? Was it an Argentinian dealer? I knew that her husband Gen. Peron collected sports cars but didn't know that was her passion too. I wonder if, when he flew the coop in the overthrow this coop was left behind?

Found out more about the tall blonde racing 356 in Mexico

On this site
The La Carrera Panamericana...: Women of La Carerra Panamericana

there's most of the story, how she is British, married a Mexican, kept racing her Porsche until she entered Carrera. She was really tough, up against all the men. It doesn't say if the factory gave her any support or explain why she had Eva Peron's face painted on the car. I wonder if the car has been found in recent years and what SN it was and if it was a Carrera.

It says that it was in memory of Eva and that it was for the women of the world. Looks like a an early Pre A bent window so highly unlikely it was equipped with a Carrera motor unless it was upfitted.

Ran across this on Instagram a few weeks ago and remembered this thread. I'm not sure if this is a re-creation or restoration as the only real difference I noticed was the placement of the "IV" above the A-pillar. Regardless, it's still pretty cool!

Glad I was able to see this car and the rest - great collection. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at the Taj Ma Garaj.
