Negative battery terminal clamp hot
Hi Guys,
When cranking over engine (& currently not starting) the negative (ground) battery terminal clamp becomes hot to touch - hot enough to not want to leave my finger in contact. I have cleaned both battery lead ground and the transmission to body ground - strap is the correct type and in new condition. Have just had the starter motor out to replace the transmission housing bush. Dismantled and cleaned starter motor. Didn't bench test it as it was working OK before but was spinning slower than I'd like. Any ideas? Thanks, Gary

Possible shorted winding in your starter. If you have a meter and can test for full load amps this would tell you if the starter is within spec.
