Looking for advice Porsche 356 T5 Gear Shift Parts
Morning all, putting the gear shift assembly back together after 4 years, and I have checked out the parts diagram and I don't seem to have ever had the parts listed at item 45: 695 424 206 00 Detent ( car is fitted with the lock on the gear shift plate)
and items 36 and 37 under the cup on the gear shift pipe, Obviously at one stage these had been removed in another life by a PO, I have all of the bits from when I removed it, but these pieces it would appear have never been on the geat shift shaft as there are no scratch marks or anthing to indicate that they have ever been fitted. Do I need the spring under the cup? These items are no longer listed on any parts supplier I usually gets bits from, or indeed anywhere! The Detent is listed somewhere in Europe, but I have sent out emails to the usual US suppliers I use to see if they can find it. Anybody have the Detent? Anyone previously who has rebuilt there gear shift assembly been able to get the spring and pin? Can I put it back together without the spring at item 36?

Really, where are all the "experts" when I need them.
no one can tell me if I really need items 36 and 37 under the cup on the gear shift shaft? They are not available anywhere, not listed anywhere as stocked items, there was none in there when i pulled it apart.
What are the consequences of not having them? Charmaine

You might post this photo and question on the 356 registry. Many knowledgeable folks there as well
