Axle oil seal retainer/cover
Hello, I’m new to the forum. While working to assemble my “basket case” ‘64C, I discovered the rear axle seal outer retainer/cover/oil diverter ( the thing with an integral tube that sticks through the wheel hub) is all jacked up. I don’t think it’s salvageable but have been unable to locate a replacement. Would appreciate any leads or help. Thanks!

Hi Nick: Not sure what you mean by "all jacked up." Is your axle shaft bent? They're very strong, so I've only seen that due to a bad accident.
On the other hand, the rubber seal, paper gasket under the seal or rubber o-ring often gets messed up, usually because the rear axle nut isn't torqued enough. Then the brake drum (or disc on a late-64?) can damage those axle shaft splines. So, what's going on? Fred H. |

Are you talking about the oil leak collector that's pressed on the wheel hub? If so, I have one I removed from a bent hub.

Try contacting Porsche specialty parts suppliers, such as Stoddard, Porsche Classic, or Early 911S Registry.

This is a scammer in the making, trying to get his post count up with random gibberish posts like this and reposting other's comments. I spotted him weeks ago from his name that is earily similar to mine, I'm pretty sure he is a reincarnation of scammer I exposed and berated as a moron, trying to soil my screen name in the process. I made a post about him on the scammers thread but it looks like he is still around. I hope the mods see this and ban him before he successfully scams someone.
