Found 356 Continetal
As some of U know I live out here in LV and have been known to stay out gambling in the casinos all night...well after leaving the casino early in the mornining I have been known to get lost and guess what I stumbled across in a driveway.... 2 early Porsches.
One was an 1972/73 911 Targa under a cover so I wasn't able to tell exactly what it is... and the other is a COMPLETE 356 Contential Coupe that appears to be rust free, and is most likely a long time Nevada resident. ....the Continenatl appears to be a 1955 with a curved windshield. It has a pretty good dent in the right front fender, but is not terminal. The car is in need of a complete restoration My question is what is the value of the Contential and how desirable of a car is ti? Now if I only can remember where the dam thing is?

Sorry but I have no idea what he paid for this car. Whatever it was it was way beyond my pocketbook.
Check the 356 Register. thanks, Ron D

I just bought 63 coupe T6 normal, I'm currently doing a complete restoration, the engine appears to be sound though and it runs well.. has a pushrod
tube leak or two, not bad for being asleep since 92. I paid $2500.00, the car is complete with minor rust issues. Bought it from the family that bought it new. I've been told I got lucky, which is yet to be seen..... Chas. 63/356 69/912

I've seen Continental's go for $12000 in decent driving shape (2 years ago in Hemmings) and $20,000 VERY NICE.
I love those cars, but as far as I know there's not a whole lot of difference between them and a normal- it's just trim and details and some nostalgia associated with an arguement with Lincoln over the name. But not many out there I guess. It'r probably not for sale- the best angle is the "I love old sports cars and always wanted a Porsche- can't afford a nice one, will you take *blank* dollars ?..." Size em' up, are they Porsche saavy? (maybe thats a rare 1969 soft window Targa- worth MORE than the 356!) then you're screwed, if not offer like $7k if it has an engine that turns freely and some interior. if you have the cash and they take $10 I'd go for it. -Bob O

Continentals were simply the 55' Coupes and Cabriolets imported into America. They added the name to appeal more to the american psyche. Ford complained and they changed the name to "European" in 56' and then dropped it all together. It was simply a naming convention. There was no such thing as a US "normal" 1955 356.

Also, if the windsheild is curved as you say and not "vee'd" (as in Pre-A) then it is not a 55' model year car. Probably a re-badged "A" series car. There were no "Continental's" with curved windsheids.
