Wheel Alignment Specs
I get the car aligned tomorrow. First drive in 18 years! Went to my manual and there are no pages after 'Supplements Group W wheel alignment'.
The car is a 62. I put C torsion bars in and set the camber at -1.5 degrees. Tires are 195-55-15 front and 205-55-15 rear. All on 5-1/2" wheels. No spacers (yet). I intend to get a Skirmants camber compensator later. Does anyone know if the front and rear toe settings are different form the 356-356B manual specs? Anything on the missing pages that I will need? Anything 'different' to setting up this car? I seem to remember something about the rear alignment affecting the front alignment when it is on the machine over 20 years ago. This was at Garretsons in Mt View back in the 80's. The tech had a really bad time of it and I do not remember the details. He finally got it and the car handled great, but I had dismantled everything during the restoration. Really appreciate any help that I can get here. I have sent an e to derwhite with the same questions and do not know if he will be able to get back to me in time for my 3PM appointment. Thanks in advance |
Got an email addy? I can forward a bunch of stuff out of my personal 356talk archive dealing with alignment... Big thing I got from skimming over the messages really quick was that you must roll the car into the flat space where the alignment will be done and you *cannot* raise it on a lift, since that will change how things sit...

Just sent them from my work account as a bunch of attachemnts... look for something from sfcc.edu
If you don't get them for some reason, you may want to call Al Zim's place in Tx and talk with Al - he posted lots of good info on the alignment and may be willing to answer a few questions for you Steve |
