What's a 356A engine core worth?

Hi guys,

I'm looking at a VW Bug with a 356A engine in it. The engine has been parked since 1975. It is totally complete...I don't have the engine number offhand. It does not turn over. It did have oil in it when parked.

What is a reasonable value for the engine in its current state?

in the UK about £450-800 but there always seams to be some donut on ebay in the states that will pay $3000+ for it.

Have to say if you can keep it it's well worth having a spare... I have a spare 912 engine and I am glad I have..

To whoever owns the car that that is the original correct engine? Lots...

As a core? Maybe $1000.... The Engine # will help, and you can check on www.356a.com to see if it is already in the known database, or you can add it.
