Is it possible to have a 1954 pre a with all vw running gear including replacing ,axles ,disc brakes , 1900cc engine ,transmission etc etc ? Are a lot of the early vw beetle ,bus parts the same as the pre a ?
Anyone done this (outlaw)? Any information and advice appreciated. |

How "pre" A? The first gmund cars were basically VWs with Porsche bodies, but as the years progressed they separated more and more... I think if you wanted the disc brakes, stronger engine, better transmission you'd be better off using C or SC parts on the A or pre-A body.

Pre A on a 54 is alot more Porsche than you think. Yes sure the front beam is VW so is the rack but 54 is when Porsche started to make some money out of these cars. SO be careful do your home work. I have a 54 and not all of it is VW. Yes the early cars where very much VW but don't for get Porsche did alot of tweeking in the early days to get more out the cars..
